People keep resolutions for New Year because they want to start the year with something good, best, & result oriented.

Similarly, for lasting changes, your day also requires some resolution, some energy and consistent effort right from the start, that is the morning.

Right?

So, to make our lives better & start our day good, we need a GOOD morning routine.

Despite all the failed efforts, multiple alarm bells, late night sleep, inconsistent actions and buried dreams to become who we want to be, we will keep striving and hence work on creating the life that we want.

In this article, you will find,

  • Why do you need a morning routine?
  • What is the purpose behind it?
  • Best morning routine ideas
  • Morning routine of successful people
  • And, how you can create your own morning routine that lasts

Know the WHY

One day, I was seated at a park with my school friend.

We were generally talking about personal development and related topics.

Then she said something that we all can relate to.

“You know, my friend, I want to grow. This is what I know. But I can’t follow a routine. Something or the other always comes up, I don’t know how.”

She was terribly saddened and hopeless about her situation when she realized that she was getting nowhere.

But I knew something.

And that is “When it’s a game of survival, there is consistent action.”

This applies not just on humans, but animals too.

They prey on animals for their survival because they have no choice.

Similarly, do humans create a choice for themselves?

A choice to relax or a choice to hustle.

More importantly, do we know why we need to hustle?

What is the purpose?

What is the meaning of OUR life?

When a person works hard for his family, he has a reason to get up every day.

There is a purpose.

What is your purpose?

All morning routines can become useless, if we don’t know what we are doing and what we want to achieve.

Know the WHY. Knowing the why is very important to achieve anything in life. Even if you go on social media platforms and watch people do Pilates, you might feel like doing it the next morning, because it looks great to get inspired.

But what if you don’t do it consistently? What if you don’t know the impact which Pilates will have on your body?

Knowing your unique reasons can help you instead of randomly picking some actions from other people’s lives. They are doing it with some purpose.

Know yours.

And it should be strong and determined. The routine will naturally follow.

Rules for the Best Morning Routine Ideas

Once you know your “WHY”, you can sit down and,

  1. Brainstorm how this will benefit your life on all the fronts, be it mentally, physically, emotionally, & spiritually. Don’t look it solely from one aspect.
  2. Take it small. People get enthusiastic and overwhelmed in the beginning. They feel that they need to do everything in a single day. What happens later? They abruptly stop following the routine because it seems “too much”. For example, in order to have the body of my dreams, I would start doing extreme and intensive workouts. Now, I might be able to do it for let’s say a week or max, a month. But after that month, I’ll be back to square one. So, in order to sustain your efforts, start small. Start with a 15-minute workout, then slowly increase the time and intensity.
  3. Focus on what’s important and urgent. I know in life, there are many important things to do. We are doing nothing but a good balancing act each day. Let’s give a pat on our back for this. So yes, there are many things. But what if I told you that you need to focus on things that are important right now? The things which require your full attention right now?

For example, you are at a stage where you want to build your career at the earliest. You want to get financially independent. But, on the other hand, you also have this goal of creating your dream body. So, prioritize, based on what’s urgent and what can be achieved in some time or simultaneously. Allot the time based on the urgency. Plan your day in the morning to see where you are heading in terms of your “MAIN URGENT GOAL”.

Get to know the morning routine of successful people

Nowadays, you get to see this term “Be in that 1%”.

What is that 1%?

Is it so easy?

No. That’s why it’s 1%.

Not everyone can do it.

But people who are determined, can definitely come in the 1%.

For some, it’s the 5 AM morning routine. They naturally get up without an alarm with a good 8 hours of sleep and drink some water. Their daily morning routine has a purpose. Purpose to steal the day. They move their body, give themselves the morning peace and feel grateful for what they have.

Most importantly, they self-reflect. This is a very important part of the day. It is very crucial to know about where you are in your journey and where you have to go. This thing alone will remove laziness, procrastination and fear, and will make you productive.

Craft your own & best morning routine (200)

After taking ideas and inspiration from everywhere, now you can grab a book/journal & create a daily/ “perfect morning routine” that works for YOU.

You are unique. What worked for others won’t work for you.

Check if you really are a morning person to get up early. Or, you might be a night bird.

Check if you prefer yoga instead of gym. It can be your choice based on your likes and preference.

Check if you like green tea instead of coffee.

Check if you like journaling your thoughts on a book instead of a laptop diary.

See what works for you.

Try a combination of things.

See what is making you fall back to your old habits.

Remember, no routine is the best morning routine. The best routine is that routine that works for you and gets you to your desired goals. At times, getting swayed by routines and plans can leave us in the process only, instead of actually achieving the goal. So, be self-aware and create a complete list of items you would do when you get up in the morning.
